UEF and CONAF-Italia International seminar in National Park Sila 28th September 2018

The Union of European Foresters organized with CONAF-Italia, an International seminar about “SUSTAINABLE FOREST MANAGEMENT FOR DEVELOPMENT AND PROMOTION OF ECOSYSTEM SERVICES”.
This seminar took place in the Cupone Visit Center of the National Park of Sila, in Spezzano della Sila.
The President of the CONAF-Italia regional order of Calabria, Francesco Cufari, opened the seminar with warm thanks to all autorities and organizations supportiong this important event.
.Michael Diemer, UEF President, declared then the seminar opened, in front of an important audience.
Marco Bonavia, Consigliere Nazionale CONAF/CONAF Board Member introduced the seminar with: “La Gestione attiva delle foreste per la valorizzazione e promozione di beni e servizi ecosistemici Sustainable forest management for development and promotion of ecosystem services”.
Then Giorgio Matteucci, Direttore Istituto per i sistemi agricoli e forestali del mediterraneo ISAFOM/ Director Institute for Agricultural and Forestry Systems in the Mediterranean CNR-ISAFOM presented “Cambiamenti climatici e foreste: gestione multiuso per la mitigazione e l’adattamento (esempi pratici) Climate change and forests: multipurpose management for mitigation and adaptation (with practical examples)”.
Francesco Iovino, Dipartimento di Ingegneria Informatica, Modellistica, Elettronica e Sistemistica DIMES – Università della Calabria/Department of Informatics, Modeling, Electronics and Systems Engineering - DIMES – University of Calabria followed with “Indirizzi operativi per una gestione sostenibile delle pinete di laricio in Sila/Operative addresses for sustainable management of Calabrian pine forest in the Sila mountain rage”
Stefano Scalercio, Consiglio per la ricerca in agricoltura e l’analisi dell’economia agraria - Centro di Ricerca Foreste e Legno/Research Centre for Forestry and Wood presented “Biodiversità dell’ecosistema forestale a pino laricio: popolazioni relitte e processi evolutivi in atto nel Parco Nazionale della Sila / Biodiversity of the Calabrian black pine ecosystem: relict populations and evolutionary processes in the Sila National Park”
Salvatore Di Fazio, Coordinatore del Corso di Laurea magistrale in Scienze Forestali e Ambientali, Università “Mediterranea” di Reggio Calabria, Dipartmento di Agaria/Director of the masters in Forestry and Environmental Science programme,”Mediterranea” University of Reggio Calabria, AGRARIA Department presented an interesting “I servizi ecosistemici culturali del paesaggio forestale. Patrimonio ed aspetti educativi/The cultural ecosys tem services of forest landscape. Heritage and educational aspects”.
After that, Tomasz Markiewicz (Poland), Vice president of UEF and Director - Regional Directorate of Polish State Forests National Holding presented Due problematiche forestali in Polonia/Selected two problems of Polish forestry.
Hasan Türkyılmaz, President of “Chamber of Forest Engineers” of Turkey presented his delegation and his organization to the participants.
and Andrea Bellusci, Federazione dei Dottori Agronomi e Dottori Forestali della Calabria concluded with “Il ruolo del dottore forestale della gestione sostenibile del patrimonio boschivo in Itala e Calabria – The role of professional foresters in sustenable forest management in Italy and Calabria”
Michael Diemer, UEF President and the representative of the On. Dott. Mario Oliverio, President of Calabria Region concluded this really interesting and top level seminar, making a sumary of the main ideas developed all the morning long.
